Why Is My Vape Not Hitting? Common Problems and Simple Fixes
There are few things more annoying than reaching for your vape and getting nothing, no vapour, a weak draw, or a nasty burnt taste. The good news is that almost all of these problems have a simple cause, and you can usually fix them in under a minute without any tools. Dead or low battery. The most common culprit is simply a flat battery. If your device has a light, check whether it flashes when you draw, several quick flashes usually signals low charge. Pop it on a USB-C cable for twenty minutes and try again. If it still won’t fire after a full charge, the battery may have reached the end of its life, which is perfectly normal after months of daily use.
Burnt or harsh taste. A scorched hit almost always means the coil is dry or spent. If you’ve just fitted a new pod or refilled a tank, let it stand for two or three minutes so the wick fully soaks before you vape, firing a dry coil burns it instantly. If the burnt taste appears on an older pod, the coil has simply worn out and it’s time for a fresh one. Vaping at lower power makes coils last noticeably longer.
Weak vapour or airflow. Getting a thin, weak draw? Check the airflow isn’t blocked and that the pod is clicked in fully, a pod sitting slightly loose breaks the connection. E-liquid can also gather on the contacts over time, so a quick wipe with a dry tissue often restores a full draw. On refillable kits, make sure you’re using the right juice: high-VG shortfills struggle in tight MTL pods, where a nic salt works far better.
Leaking or gurgling. Leaks usually come down to overfilling or a temperature change. Fill to just below the max line, avoid getting liquid down the central airway, and let the device reach room temperature before vaping if it’s been somewhere cold. A gentle draw rather than a hard pull also stops liquid being dragged into the airway.
